My 11 year old daughter was bitten by a copper head on her left ring finger. After 6 days in the hospital and antivenom she is scheduled for surgery next week for a skin graft. I was wondering what to expect from this surgery.

I had ACL reconstruction surgery using a hamstring graft 3 weeks ago and for the past week I've been picking at this thing that I thought was a scab that was located on the top of my lower incision. I finally got it out today and this clear string came with it. I later realized it was not scab that I had been picking at but the knot where the surgeonhad tied my stitches, it was on the outside of my leg. I took that out and had 1-3 cm of suture material come out too. then a little tiny bit if blood and a clear fluid. I put a band aid on it. is it worth a call to my surgeon or physical therapist seeing how we are doing physical therapy in a dirty public pool now. is infection going to be a problem? is it going to still heal properly? my surgery was on 3/18/2011. thank you

so i had my acl repair about 6 months ago (it was a hamstring graft) i finished physical therapy in 4 months and have been play basketball for about a month now full speed. yesterday i was going up for a lay up and felt like a quick pain behind my leg somewhere. Not sure where exactly, either behind my knee or a little above. well i landed fine and continued to play a few more games because it barely hurt, even played volleyball later that day. Well now i have some pain behind my knee when i try to jump or run fast, but it also goes up into my hamstring too. Cut out Carbs for Weight loss?????week 1?

I have a family trip coming up and decided last week was time to kick it into high gear and start my weight loss journey. I cut out ALL Breads,Pasta,Potatoes, and chips. I am eliminating most carbs but still eating apples. I have lost 2 lbs so i am healthly losing. I am excersizing 4-5 times a week doing 40 min on elliptical and some crunches and ab moves. Nerve damage after extraction and implant?

I had tooth #19 pulled last Tuesday a bone grafting and an implant put in. I still cannot feel my left lower lip or chin. I am still in a lot of pain. I am at the point where I am having overdose symtoms from trying to manage the pain. I was taking 100 mg demoral and 1 perocet every 4 hours. I am having leg and arm spasms, tightness in my muscles. I take a break on the pain pills for 8 hours and then I try to take them again. I am not really getting any break from the pain though. I talked to my dentist twice. The last time was Friday. He said if I felt the same on Monday I should come see him. I am really worried that serious damage has occured and I am not sure I trust this OS. He was really rough on me during the extraction. I have had a lot of dental work in my life but this was really a traumatic experience. I was actually crying and shaking during the extraction. The first injection felt like a bolt of lightening in me. The swelling has gone down slightly. I have prednisone that I take for Crohns disease. I am wondering if I should start a round of it to help in reducing the swelling in hopes to take the pressure off the nerve, or will this hinder the bone graft?

for 10 years doctors made me believe that i had chronic sinusitis ,i had 3 operations done on my nose that never help with my breathing ,in fact i get worse after the operations. Until last year that i found out that it was due to collapsing of my sidewall during inspiration ,had a doctor placed spreader graft harvest from my ear placed on my tip or septum but it did not help..Just last weak another doctor told me that it was supposed to be placed on my sidewalls to make it stiff so it won't collapse upon inspiration wich make sense to me, ..he seems like a very good doctor ,he proposed to operate on me and he said it will improve my breathing (they all said that)and i accept..But after doing some research on the doctor i found a lot of complaining over the internet about him(probably some of his unhappy patient)....My question is ,i am kind of scared after seeing all the negatif complaining about him and i almost don t wanna do the surgery ,,What would you guys do if you were me

Planting Gardenia shrub in SWFL?

I'm getting conflicting information on the internet and from nursery employees on whether it is imperative to plant ONLY grafted gardenia plants in SW Florida. I am told by some that only the grafted plants will survive because of some sort of bug that is in the ground and prone to attacking plants that are not grafted. I prefer to plant one of the non-grafted varieties because I don't want it to look like a small tree as the grafted ones do. They will be planted on either side of the garage (near cement) and the east side of the house. Even though I realize they grow quite large I intend to keep them fairly well trimmed so they don't obstruct the walkways. Do you think the "Mystery" variety non-grafted will work and will it not bloom nicely if I need to keep it too closely trimmed?

Slice the chicken into thin strips & saute in a bit of olive oil over med-high heat until golden & cooked through (you can cook some veggies like peppers and onions with the chicken at this point too). I would add some spices like garlic, chili powder, oregano, etc... as the chicken is cooking as well, and probably the green chilis too! As the chicken is cooking, slightly warm the tortillas. Make the fajitas by placing a scoop of the chicken mixture in the middle of a warmed tortilla, top with cheese (if desired... could also use sour cream, salsa...), and rolling it up. Bon appetit!

Since he is young, and the teeth that are being extracted will not be missing for an extended period of time, he should have enough bone to hold the implants. You will have to have x-rays done in order to know for sure but it is unlikely.

Why doesnt my 1.5year old daughter eat?

She'll be 2 in September.. And as chunky and healthy as she is, she doesnt eat much.. She just wants milk. implant surgery does not hurt. All you need is local anesthetic. Problem is that if you remov e #7 and #10, even with a bone graft, the bone usually shrinks and an implant connot be paced there. I say it was poor planning by the dentists involved. #7 and #10 implants must be placed at the time of extraction. I think the swelling is due to the surgeon putting th eimplant thru the bone and into the gum. Good chance it will fail.

Post Dental Bone Graft Question?

I had a tooth extraction (Tooth #4) this past Thursday and a dental bone graft was put into place. Since then, the area where the stitches and what I am guessing to be membrane (it's a soft white material) has descended. I am in no pain, but am concern is the surgical area material supposed to have descended to the extent that you can't tell there is a tooth missing anymore because the material fills the hole of where the tooth was (it did not look like that the day of surgery). My dentist is unable to be reached and I don't know if this is to be expected.

In a second ACL surgery, What will the surgeon use as a graft?

I've already had one ACL surgery where they used my patellar tendon as a graft. I think I have torn it again, what will they most likely use a graft this time? A cadaver's?

Is it wise to take the pins out, after ankle surgery?

I had major ankle surgery 4-2-10, and in the last 5 mo. the pins holding the bone graft, feel, like they have moved, I did get them out, last wk-, I wished I knew if I did the right thing or not?

Can i eat normally and still get results with P90X?

I have an average body type and i've decided to do P90X to get in shape over the summer. I eat like a normal teenager, occasional Chickfila here and there, Outback with the family getting me a nice ol' steak and maybe a cookie or two when my sister bakes. Most the time i eat whatever my mom cooks which is like stir fry beef, spaghetti, potatoes and baked chicken, etc. I also drink sodas, but of course I can cut that down to mostly water. Can I get results with P90X with my current diet? I'm not looking to get to bodybuilder status, just get a little more healthier and add some muscle before go to college (currently a senior in HS).

My ACL is loose after 3 months post op. Is this bad?

I had ACL reconstruction and lateral meniscus removal 11 weeks ago from today. I chose to use the Patella tendon graft. If anyone who had this surgery remembers before it, they done many tests to check for the ACL being torn. One of them was pulling on the shin bone to see if it parts from the thigh. Doing this, you can see your shin bone move kinda deforming your skin, or pushing your skin out. Mine has started to do this again, when I pull on my shin, it departs way more than my other knee. You can tell a big difference. But my knee feels normal and i can run without it giving away. It isn't giving away and i have no pain. I can still straighten it out as well as hyper extend it some, and bend it fully without any pain at all. I'm just worried because that ACL is loose like it was before surgery. Like i said, i can still run, walk without any pain, and bend fully and straighten without any giving out. I'm just worried about the looseness of the ACL. Any suggestions?

I really want my nose pierced. However, I am concerned because I have had multiple nose surgeries (as a result of being cleft lip and palate, not elective surgeries). I have a bone graft. I do not know how hard they have to push on your nose - so I worry if they push too hard, it will hurt the graft. I also worry about some of the scar tissue I have in my nose. I had a very precise knee surgery about two weeks ago. It was a complete cartilage transplant, three broken bones on my knee, and a bullet size hole was filled. The doctor said it went very well. He said not to smoke, because my graft may not attach. Is that true? and another question is how long before i can swim, and have my life back. i just graduated high school last saturday, on crutches of course. Try using a mixture of oil and butter,the oil will just burn but the mixture of the two gives the crispyness.the oven needs to be hot,it also depends on the type of potato as to weather its crisps,so doing a mixture of veg etc you will always get some that are done and others that are not.

If you can, carry a snacking bag with something like carrot, cucumber, capsicum, celery pieces, so you have a snack when you want one, without resorting to something less healthy.

Am I paying too much for my gum grafts?

I got 3 frenectomies removed within the last 4 months and 1 gum graft was done 5 days ago. I paid $150 for each frenectomy; $1080 for the 1 gum graft procedure and $485 for the tissue my dentist bought from the lab as I refused to have him cut my tissue from my mouth (screw that idea!). I think I was overcharged as a co-worker of mine had 7 grafts done for only $2000 (she did it in the States though, and she used her own tissue for the grafts). Hope that helps.

I recommend going to the library, and searching for any books on grafting or propagation. When you find the area, you see that they are all close to each other on the shelves. Grab a big stack, and flip through some. Once that have lots of photographs and diagrams are usually the most helpful. It's a very visual process, and a book that is all text is going to be harder to understand.

its time to switch to 2nd food. they r a bit thicker, but not much. once he is used to them... a couple weeks, then u can start pureeing ur foods. meats and veggies and fruits. no need for extra sugars, salts or seasonings. he doesnt need them. some babies at a year old dont have teeth yet, but they still gnaw the food with their gums. if he can do the pincer grasp u can give him cooked carrots cut into tiny bites and he can feed himself and u can feed them. i think thats about 9 months.

Why is it so hard for me to get muscle definition?

First, my diet is definitely in check. I eat 6 frequent meals a day consisting of chicken breast, brown rice, oatmeal, egg whites, sweet potatoes, and tons of veggies.
